"I play a loud Punjabi girl in 'Mera Dil Leke Dekko'. She is a simple, sweet girl who comes to Mumbai for the person she loves. But at the same time she is headstrong, forthright, extremely impulsive and a little foolish too. She just goes ahead and does things. It is diametrically opposite to what I play in 'Breaking News'," said Koel.
"Breaking News" is Vishal Inamdar's debut directorial venture and Koel says she has no qualms about working with first time directors.
"I have always worked with new directors, be it Rahul Bose, Vinta Nanda or Arun Bharali. They give their best shot and are special in a way. They put their heart and soul into the film, just like the way you'd nurture your baby. They are not jaded or cynical I feel," she said.
Koel found her role in "Breaking News", where she plays a television journalist, exciting as well as challenging.
"I will never do anything that doesn't excite me. I play this simple ordinary girl next door with no madness, no neurosis or any crazy traits, that most of the other characters I've played had. She is an ordinary girl with extraordinary things happening to her."
