R Madhavan's latest outing, 'Saala Khadoos', which hit theatres last month, had piqued the interest of legendary American boxer Mike Tyson. Earlier this month, the 49-year-old champ had posted on his social networking account: "I'd like to see this boxing film." Ecstatic over this, the proud makers have decided to host a special screening for Mike in the US within a fortnight.
"Co-producers Maddy and Rajkumar Hirani along with some of their team members will fly down to the US for the exclusive event. They have been over the moon after the boxing legend expressed his wish to watch the film. After seeing his post on Facebook, Maddy instantly got in touch with him through his manager and discussed arranging a special screening for him. The team will fly out in the next 10 days. It is a big honour for them," says a source.
Madhavan, who played a rough and tough boxing coach in the film co-starring professional pugilist Ritika Singh, confirms the news. "Yes, it's true. If we cook up a story like that, we will be sued. It was a proper Mike Tyson official fan page on Facebook. He tweeted me and the boxing coach. We got in touch with their PR department and they said they really liked the reviews and the way the boxing film has done and wanted to see the film. So, now we are heading to the US for it.
The final conversation happened a couple of days ago."
