Yesteryear actress Saira Banu has been spending anxious moments as judgment in an 18-year-old case involving her husband, legendary actor Dilip Kumar, is expected to be delivered today. The case relates to the thespian's attempt to associate himself with a business company.
Though it is mandatory to be present in court today, the 93-year-old is not in a position to do so given his frail health. The hearing will be held at the 14 Metropolitan Magistrate Court, Girgaum, presided by Magistrate BS Kharade.
Sources say the legal proceedings relate to certain matters in the way the company conducted its affairs. Kumar was the honorary chairman of GK Exim India Private Limited, against which a case was registered by a few individuals over the way certain matters were handled. Since the actor held a post, he was also dragged into the case.
Says Banu, "Since the matter is sub-judice, I cannot reveal anything about it. Yes, it has been a long-drawn case, I want his fans to pray for him."
She also took to Dilip Kumar's Twitter handle to talk about the case. She posted, "Saab's health is delicate, facing neurological problems, yet Saab has never prayed for case adjournment.... Hope serious consternation n stress caused don't affect his condition further. Saab needs peace n rest."
She adds, "I sought legal opinion before tweeting as it is a court case. Whatever I had to say, I have said in the tweets. Now let the court decide. I do not want anything to affect Saab's health further."
