He inaugurated the Spandan Festival at the Benaras Hindu University. The Spandan Festival is an annual affair held for the youth involving competitions in the categories of music, dance, fine arts, literature and dramatics.

A source confirmed that three generations of The Bachchan family have had a special connection with the Benaras Hindu University.
