The invasion of the scantily clad women into your bedroom might end soon. In the past few years, the music videos with half naked models have flooded the television
screens in India. Items girls have become celebrities overnight with their pelvic thrusts and silicone implants. And all this could end pretty soon.
Bollywood has embraced the demand for item numbers and with multiplexes and overseas profits, becoming an item girl became an attractive and easier way to enter
Bollywood. Skin show became a norm and raunchy videos accompanying remixed versions of old melodies flooded the television screen.
The skin show helps the
music producers get repeat viewings. Such videos helps in registering the songs in the viewers mind and eventually results in more album sales. But all this could
stop.
The Union Information and Broadcasting Ministry passed a notification on Thurday requiring that all music videos need to get clearance from the Central Board
of Film Certification before getting aired on the cable networks.
And this includes movie promotions too. The Bombay High Court also recently passed directives for
cleaner cable programming.
This not only covers the material produced in India but covers everything that is aired on Indian television and this includes English music videos too. New measures will be
taken to keep advertisers clean.
All this was a result of a public interest litigation petition about the growing alarm among the general public about the quality of
content on music videos and promos.
How clean the videos will be depends on how strict the censors are. But one thing is for sure... business of models like Rakhi Sawant will surely get affected !! This surely is
a good news for some ... and bad news for lots of people !!
