Adding on to the current trend of reality shows on various channels, Sahara One Television will air "Superstars" from September.
The show, based on a concept developed by Endemol, a leading firm from the Netherlands, has already been successful in many countries around the world including the US.
The new show promises to provide a platform to talented youngsters from across the country to come forward and showcase their talent. The show entails the participants to copy their favourite stars as faithfully as possible.
Speaking at a press meet convened to announce the launch, Urmila said: "I am greatly honoured to be a part of the jury. Through television these talented youngsters will have access to each and every household in the country to showcase their talent."
Purnendu Bose, chief operations officer, Sahara One TV, said that India being a nation obsessed with Bollywood, there are many youngsters who want to make it into the world of acting. The new show would be an endeavour to provide a national platform to such talent.
Auditions for the series will commence from Aug 10 and will be held in five cities throughout the country starting with Ludhiana. The four other cities where auditions will be conducted are New Delhi, Kolkata, Bhopal and Mumbai.
