One aspect that has gotten a big thumbs-up from all corners is the heart-wrenching performance of Naseeruddin as Shiv Nataraj. Many fans have taken to social media to express how his performance in Waiting is reminiscent of the role he essayed as DK Malhotra in the cult classic Masoom (1983).
Naseer himself has been quite candid in his interviews, and has even apologised humorously for his choice of roles in the recent past. But with Waiting, the master performer seems to have once again struck a chord with his large fan base that have grown up watching his movies.
In a film that deals with a difficult subject with tenderness and humour, Naseer has given a seemingly effortless performance, moving the audiences to tear up at his grief, as well as rediscover love and laughter though his signature comic timing.
Menon couldn't agree more with her audience. "Being such a beloved actor, people were craving to see vintage Naseer back on screen. And everyone who has seen the film has said that there's not a note out of place in his performance. He draws you into the experience of the character so strongly that you feel what Shiv is going through."
Kalki's achievement in the film is that she manages to reinvent herself every time. Her Tara is every bit the feisty young woman to Naseer's staid old Shiv, and their unlikely pairing and unmistakable chemistry is also being widely appreciated.
