With the release of Irrfan-starrer 'Madaari' being pushed to mid-July, the makers seem to be toying with a few ideas to up the film's publicity game. One of them, it seems, is incorporating an item number in the upcoming movie based on the 2012 Mumbai Metro bridge collapse near Marol. Though billed as a commercial drama, the film has apparently not been able to create enough buzz for itself as of now.
A source says, "The film has a good cast and the subject, too, is powerful. But the general perception is that it is a serious film. So, the makers are keen to promote it as a mainstream project and trying to come up with a plan to attract the audience's attention. They are thinking of adding an item song for the promotions."
Nishikant Kamat, the film's director, denied the buzz while Irrfan remained unavailable for comment.
A source close to the project, however, says, "Yes, we are planning to add a promotional song. But we are waiting for Irrfan, who is also the co-producer for Madaari, to return from Singapore where he is promoting his Hollywood film, Inferno. Once he is back, we will have a meeting and take a decision accordingly."
