Censor Board chief Pahlaj Nihalani on Friday congratulated the team of 'Udta Punjab' for the release of the drug-themed film. Pahlaj said he hopes that the Abhishek Chaubey-directed film, which hit theatres on June 17, does well at the box office.

"Want to congratulate makers and cast of the film. I hope it goes on to be a huge success," he told reporters in Mumbai.

Starring Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor and Diljit Dosanjh in lead roles, "Udta Punjab" had earlier courted controversy with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

The film talks about the prevailing drug problem in Punjab and its effect on youth.
