Sunanda Shetty also said that the arrest of Fazl-ur Rehman earlier this month would not have any negative effect on Shilpa's career.
"The case is against Mr. and Mrs. Shetty and not against Shilpa. Therefore, there is no question of trouble for her," said Sunanda, who had allegedly hired Rehman to make extortion calls to the owner of Parag Saris in March-April 2003.
"Besides, a chargesheet has been filed and the matter is sub judice. The court will decide in time and I am sure the truth about this conspiracy will be out. I have full faith in the judiciary," she added.
She said it was unethical on the part of a local tabloid to have published "incorrect" information regarding the case.
"Right now this news doesn't interest people because there are more disturbing issues our city and country are facing. Let the law pronounce the guilty verdict, only then the press can shout from the rooftop."
Reacting to the report, Shilpa had sent a legal notice to the paper and asked for an unconditional apology. She has also threatened to claim damages.
