According to a report, Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt starrer 'Badrinath Ki Dulhania' earned approximately Rs 12 crore (nett) on Monday, taking the film's total to Rs 54 crore (nett).

Made under Dharma Productions, 'Badrinath Ki Dulhania' is a spin-off of the 2014 film 'Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania'. This is the third time that Alia and Varun are working together after 'Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania' and 'Student Of The Year'. Their effortless chemistry has often been appreciated by the audience and this outing was no exception.

'Badrinath Ki Duhania' sees Varun playing a small-town boy Badri who falls in love with Alia's character Vaidehi. While he hopes to tie the knot with Vaidehi, the feisty girl has dreams and aspirations of her own - marriage does not figure in her list. Based in Kota and Jhansi, the movie deals with the evils of a regressive society in the north Indian hinterlands, and touches upon the subjects of dowry and patriarchy.
