Filmmaker Subhash Ghai, known as the biggest showman in Bollywood, is planning to set up an international film, television and media arts institute in Rajasthan.
"Ghai wants to open a branch of his Mumbai's Whistling Woods International Institute for films, television and media arts here. He has sent us a proposal," a source in the
Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) told.
"The government is looking at the proposal," the source added.
A film city is coming up near Sumel around 15 km from here. It will be spread over 800 acres and will have the infrastructure to facilitate filmmaking.
Sources say Ghai's representative met Urban Development Secretary Lalit Pawar and JDA commissioner D.B. Gupta and sought land at concessional rates.
Whistling Woods provides world-class training across all technical and creative aspects of filmmaking, television, animation and other media arts as part of a two-year
intensive hands-on training programme.
