Abhay Chopra's upcoming whodunnit, Ittefaq, the rebooted version of his grandfather BR Chopra's 1969 film of the same name, is a case in point. Apart from the Chopras, it drew Shah Rukh Khan and Karan Johar's attention, too.And so, it's not an ittefaq that they teamed up on the Sidharth Malhotra-Sonakshi Sinha Akshaye Khanna starrer.
According to an industry source, SRK had promised to work on a film with Abhay's brother Juno, who assisted Karan on Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham and is the creative producer on the new version of the suspense thriller. He had worked in Bhootnath for the banner and had promised that he would do a movie with Juno whenever he was ready ," says the source. When the Chopras decided to adapt the 1969 Rajesh Khanna-Nanda starrer, Juno reached out to SRK who agreed to come on board. "It's one of SRK's favourite films. Juno told Karan about the film and he, too, expressed his wish to partner on the project," adds the source.
"Ittefaq is Shah Rukh, Karan and our favourite. It's a fantastic film to collaborate on.We've had a lot of fun working on the film. It has been a wonderful experience," says Juno.
