The actress has conceived through IVF; with her eggs she froze at 41
Diana Hayden, who was crowned Miss World in 1997 welcomed her first child, Arya in to the world on January 9th 2016. Conceived through IVF, Hayden had frozen her eggs in 2007 as she just wasn't meeting Mr. Right and was also focusing on her career at the time. Ten years ago, egg -freezing was not widely spoken about except for medical reasons. Under the guidance of IVF experts, Dr. Nandita Palshetkar and Dr. Hrishikesh Pai, Diana opted to freeze her eggs making her one of the first women to freeze her eggs for non-medical reasons.
In 2014, one year after her marriage to American Collin Dick, Diana decided to have a baby. But after trying to conceive for a year she found out she had endometriosis, a painful condition of the uterus which reduces the chances of conceiving by about 50%. Using the eggs she froze in 2007 Diana turned her dream into reality when in 2016 she conceived and gave birth to a beautiful, healthy, baby girl.
Knowing she wanted to have more children, Diana withdrew and froze more of her eggs at the age of 41. Her prayers were answered. The good news is, she is now five months pregnant, expecting twins with her husband, and the babies are due in the month of March. Needless to say, they are thrilled beyond words.
Speaking about what life holds for her, Hayden said, `Collin and I are over the moon to share this news with the world. I already fulfilled my dream of being a mother by having Arya, and now my dream has multiplied! We can't be happier; our family is soon going to change from three to five`.
Dr Nandita Palshetkar says that Egg freezing is a technology which is available easily to everyone. Women these days are very career oriented and this gives them freedom to pursue their careers and wait for Mr. Right. Egg freezing allows them to carry on with their lives without worrying about the biological clock ticking away. This technology of vitrification that is egg freezing revolutionized the treatment because, the survival rates of eggs after thawing is nearly 95% making it a very efficient technique.
Dr Hrishikesh Pai adds,`Diana's pregnancy proves how infertility techniques have improved over the years. It was initially challenging to freeze eggs but newer techniques have changed all that`.
