He's the maverick from Malayalam movies who had no aspirations to make it in Hindi cinema. The last time
he was seen in a Hindi film it was for Ram Gopal Varma's Company where he played an incorruptible police
officer.
Now Mohanlal is back in Mumbai shooting for Ram Gopal Varma's Sholay. He plays the role of the Thakur
which was played by Sanjeev Kumar in the original Sholay.
Strangely, the method actor lost his voice while enacting some dramatic scenes for Ramu on Diwali
day.
"The scenes were very dramatic. They required me to scream and shout a lot. Resultantly I've almost lost
my voice," whispers Mohanlal.
Admirably the actor continued shooting right through his para-laryngitis on the day after Diwali. "Because
the shooting has to be completed. And I've to return home in two days."
Adds Ramu, "We've been shooting solo scenes with Mohanlal over Diwali. And they required a lot of
screaming. That must have got to Mohanlal's throat. I'm sure he'll be fine."
