Shah Rukh Khan, the undisputed king of Bollywood who turned 41 Thursday, wanted to spend a quiet birthday but television news channels hyped it to the extent that little else seemed to be happening in India on the day.

But then, why blame the TV channels alone? Such is the star's fan following that in Kolkata, a museum named 'SRK: The God In Many Moods' was unveiled with memorabilia, posters, books and much more information on him.

Since morning, the news channels ran clips from his films and even conducted a quiz on him.

The otherwise stern Karan Thapar also dropped his headmaster-like countenance while interviewing the actor for CNN-IBN, during which SRK candidly admitted: "I don't have any plans for the wrinkles and pot belly (era).

In fact, I never plan. I agree that there will be a time when some people would not like to see me on screen. I will have to accept that. But it is a sad thought."

Talking about religion he said: "I am very Islamic by nature. But I feel that is it the most misunderstood and misrepresented religion. It is as secular and open as any other religion."

STAR Gold telecast a special programme "Jabardast Janamdin" that paid tribute to the actor by showing some of his most talked about films. Shah Rukh joined their efforts by hosting the two-episode show "Inner and Outer World of Shah Rukh Khan".

FM Channels ran quiz shows and distributing CDs and cassettes of Shah Rukh movies on the occasion.

Most of Shah Rukh's films might have bombed during the last two years but this has not marred his popularity.

This year also he failed to hit the bull's eye with Karan Johar infidelity drama "Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna" and Farhan Akhtar's action thriller "Don", a remake of 1970s super hit film of the same name. Shah Rukh, however, says it doesn't take him long to digest the criticism and go back to his usual self.

Towards this end, he is now planning to sign more films. Right now he is busy with "Om Shanti Om" and "Happy New Year".

He is also breaking records in the endorsement arena by earning about Rs.200 million. From home product Lux to international brand Tag Heuer, he is endorsing everything coming his way.
