Scores of people Thursday prayed at the Golden Temple here seeking blessings for Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt, who awaits judicial verdict for his alleged role in the 1993 Mumbai serial bombings.

Led by Priya Dutt, Congress MP and sister of the actor, people from all faiths prayed for the star whose popularity has skyrocketed after the runaway success of his latest hit "Lage Raho Munnabhai".

Priya Dutt made an offering of degh, a vessel containing a sweet, at the sanctum sanctorum. The priest recited a special prayer for him..

Both at the Golden Temple and later during the multi-religion prayer ceremony, a tearful Priya Dutt said she and her family were anxiously awaiting the verdict.

Sanjay Dutt has been charged with illegal possession of an assault rifle and could face up to five years in jail if pronounced guilty.

Dutt is one of the 24 accused awaiting the verdict.
