Here’s how Gautam Singh recreated a village for his film GAON
Gautam Singh's film GAON is a story about a village called Bharatgaon and how it transforms thanks to the changes around it. While the film is ready now, creating a village set up was no cakewalk for Gautam.

`That was a difficult task. We needed to find a village which looks secluded from the rest of the world. I searched almost for 6 months before I found this village called Ramgarh in a dense forest, surrounded by mountains near Jamshedpur in Jharkhand. This village is still completely cut off from the rest of the world, except for a dirt pathway. People from there hardly do any business with the outside world. They live a self-reliant life,` he says.

In fact, Ramgarh made Gautam a bit nostalgic as well. `That was how my own village looked 35 years ago. We worked for four months in Ramgarh prior to the shoot recreating the sets for GAON,` he says.

Well! these sets not only promise authenticity but are also a rare sight nowadays!

"Gaon The village no more" is directed by Gautam Singh, stars Shadab kamal, Neha Mahajan, Gopal K Singh, Rohit Pathak, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Omkar Das Manikpuri, Shishir Sharma, Praveena Deshpande. The film is slated to release on 26 October 2018.
