Music maestro A R Rehman, actors Priyanka Chopra and Shahid Kapoor are some of the celebrities who will perform alongside International pop star and Grammy award winner Nelly Furtado on the new year's eve in Mumbai, in what is dubbed as the "world's biggest new year party" spanning five countries of the world.

Sponsored by cellphone major Nokia, the global music event will kick off in Hong Kong, followed by Mumbai, Berlin and Rio de Janeiro before rounding off in New York.

Speaking about the event, Devinder Kishore, Director Marketing, Nokia India, said, "Music is something that is very closely associated with the new year celebrations and this event is also a natural extension of our brand promise of Connecting People." Rehman said

Nokia expects a combined attendance of 1.3 million and an anticipated global television and Internet audience of 150 million. "With this event we aim to create an unforgettable experience," Kishore said.

International artists performing in other countries as part of this relay celebration include The Black Eyed Peas and Scissor Sisters.
