After the Internet launch of its latest movie 'Vivah' recently, Rajshri Media has premiered Mahabharatat, B R Chopra's most celebrated television series, at www.rajshri.com.

A spokesman for the digital entertainment and new media arm of the 60-year-old Rajshri group yesterday said 4,500 people have freely streamed one of India's greatest epic a day after its launch yesterday.

A download of the TV show-stopper of 1980s will cost 1.99 US dollars after ten days of the launch, he added.

Rajshri Films has also tied up with Reliance Communications to recreate the magic of Mahabharata on its application suite, Reliance Mobile World.

Mahabharata will be available in multiple versions on www.rajshri.com, the original Hindi version, with English subtitles, and a Tamil version. The TV series will be available for both free streaming and paid downloads to a global audience on PCs and other broadband enabled devices on demand 24x7, a Rajshri Media statement said.

Commenting on the launch, Ravi Chopra, Producer and Director of the epic TV series, said, '' While directing Mahabharata, I became convinced that this epic is not for us Indians alone, but for the whole wide world.

Its timeless message can restore the eternal values of peace and harmony in the strife torn world of today. I am delighted at the initiative taken by Rajshri.com to make this memorable piece of work available to viewers worldwide.''

Rajjat A Barjatya, Managing Director, Rajshri Media, the digital media licensees of Mahabharata, said, '' It is our privilege to be given the opportunity to showcase this great Indian epic and the most successful Indian TV show ever to a global Indian and non-Indian audience through the Internet.

For Rajshri.com, this is an opportunity to enrich the lives of audiences worldwide with the power of Indian wisdom contained in the eternal message of the Mahabharata and the sacred Bhagvad Gita.''
