After his glorious rendering of the Baabul song which he also composed, the Big B seems to be taking his singing very seriously. Barely a month after the poignant Kehta
hai babul number, the Big B was back in his favourite composer Aadesh Shrivastav's studio to record a song, this time for composer Vishal Bharadwaj who's doing a special
song for Ram Gopal Varma's Nishabd.
Varma can't stop raving. "You've to hear how Mr Bachchan sounds in the number. When I heard him do the song in Baabul I thought that was the ultimate. But after hearing
him sing Vishal's song in my Nishabd I've decided this is his best song ever."
The song written by a budding poet from Chandigarh will be used as an ongoing theme song in Nishabd....just like the Baabul song which played across the film.
Is this the beginning of a new flourishing phase in the Big B's life as a singer? Not only has he sung two songs in quick succession for Baabul and Nishabd, the Big B plans
to do a whole album of songs with his favourite composer Aadesh Shrivastav. These will be based on folk songs of Uttar Pradesh.
Says Aadesh, "Amitji and I are both from UP. Maybe that's why he's so fond of me. He often drops in to the studio for impromptu jamming sessions. And we'll be working on
an album soon."
Ironically the Big B maintains he's not a singer. "I don't know how to sing. I never did. Earlier too when I sang for Silsila (Neela aasman so gaya) I cringed. Even now my
reaction is the same".
