After bringing us his spellbinding debut `The Witch`, Robert Eggers is back with his maritime-based thriller `The Lighthouse.` Currently doing its film festival rounds, this film stars Willem Defoe and Robert Pattinson who have received critical acclaim for their performances.

Doing the Q & A, Eggers began by thanking the present audience and his collaborators. After the premiere, he spoke about his intentions of making this film. Eggers said that unlike other filmmakers, he isn`t interested in making movies with a `message` but at the same time he isn`t unaware of what`s going around him. He said that subconsciously some elements of today`s environment might have seeped into his movie.

On being asked about the preparation, Pattinson mentioned that they had a five day rehearsal period, lauding the director`s preparedness which made things easier for the actor. Willem praised the `visual language` of Eggers, saying that the actors didn`t do as much as performance as they figured out the camera placement. On being asked about `buried alive` sequence, Defoe politely added: `It wasn`t pleasant.`

Eggers also talked about the research aspects and use of dialects in the movie. Robert along with his brother and co-writer Max read a lot of Melville, R.L. Stevenson, Sarah Orne Jewett, and dictionaries of sailors which served for two distinct dialects in the movie.
