Tulip Joshi's film ‘Shoonya' after her critically acclaimed ‘Mathrubhumi', will have its world premiere in
Holland. The film will be premiered at the prestigious International Film Festival Rotterdam 2007 (Jan 24-
Feb 4).
The Rotterdam festival is a unique and treasured place because it gives talented filmmakers a gamut of
films making process, from advising on scripts, marketing of films, gaining contracts and finance provided
by Hubert Bals funds to deserving Films.
'Shoonya' is considererd to be a modern-day interpretation of T.S Eliot's ‘Murder in the Cathedral' Arindam's
Story & screenplay explores the subject of guilt, paranoia of life & honour in the public domain in the
context of India.
The director uses the money generating spectrum of sports (cricket in India), in which the conscience ends
up being a pawn in the hands of outside forces and vested interest. The film is based on the life of a cricket
star and his tryst with fame and adulation.
The star cast has power house performers like Nasseruddin Shah, Kay Kay Menon, Tulip Joshi, Seema
Biswas & Satish Kaushik & Ninad Kamat.
