The rally was announced by the Mumbai chapter of Round Table India in an endeavour to raise funds for its projects under the theme "Freedom Through Education", said a press release here.
The event is being organised in partnership with the National Association for the Blind (NAB) and aims at creating awareness about illiteracy and the challenges faced by the visually impaired.
Said Devgan: "I am really delighted to be a part of this noble initiative of Round Table India. The participation of each one of us counts as it is a movement for educating the millions of underprivileged children who will form the India of tomorrow."
The unique event will be a time-speed-distance (TDS) rally where visually impaired navigators will partner the participants on a 70 km journey and guide them through a series of check points.
This will help highlight the skills and abilities of the visually impaired as well. The rally is expected to draw over 100 participants from different walks of life.
Devgan said his actress wife Kajol would also be part of this project and would join in whenever he was not available.
According to the actor, the project provided encouragement to the blind. He said he was happy to be part of this event rather than attending a fashion show or style awards.
