Her half-Anglo and part Indian pedigree makes her special. Lisa Ray can look perfectly phirang in teeny weeny western outfits and magnificently Indian in regal attire in her all peaches and cream complexion, green eyes and auburn hair.
Is that why the Bollywood producers keep lining up outside her Bandra apartment despite the fact that she is a pathetic actress? Case in point: Vikram Bhatt`s Kasoor in which her voice was mercifully dubbed by actress Divya Dutta. But the lure of Bollywood is too overpowering to refuse. And Lisa keeps falling for the bait every now and then only to back out of it at the eleventh hour. With modelling offers dwindling and boyfriends melting away —she is not getting any younger — Lisa seems to be in a fix. Her constantly disparaging remarks on India are fast giving way to grandiose praise for its "exotic beauty, innocent people and great talents." She is also less obsessive about her tall claims of having lived all her life in Canada and the perks she had enjoyed all these years.
On a recent television show, she openly admitted to being "uninhibited when it comes to exposing for a relevant script" after crying herself hoarse against the indecent exposure that Bollywood actresses have to resort to. One person who has evinced much interest in this half Bengali beauty is actor-producer-director Akbar Khan, who has reportedly signed her on for his magnum opus Taj Mahal in a pivotal role. Lisa has also signed two biggies for which she is expected to start shooting soon. Let`s wait and watch how Lisa fares this time around!
