The film is based on the Third Battle of Panipat (1761) which was fought between the Maratha Empire and the forces of Ahmed Shah Abdali. Arjun Kapoor is portraying the Maratha warrior and commander in chief of the army 'Sadashiv Rao Bhau', Kriti Sanon is'Parvati Bai' and Sanjay Dutt is playing the Afghan invader 'Ahmed Shah Abdali'.
The trailer makes it clear that the budget of the film is grand and the great VFX work, locations, and costumes are the proof. But, talking about acting, except Sanjay Dutt no one looks impressive in the 3 minute and 15-second long trailer. Especially Arjun Kapoor, who seems to be the weakest link in the film, although Sanjay Dutt looks good in the character of 'Ahmed Shah Abdali'. Watch the trailer here
The film also boasts of Mohnish Bahl, Zeenat Aman, Padmini Kolhapure and many other good actors. The trailer will surely remind you of 'Bajirao Mastani', but what the trailer of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Bajirao Mastani managed to convey without any dialogues, Ashutosh Gowariker's 'Panipat' fails to even with dialogues.
Now, how the film actually turns out to be will be known only once we watch the film. Directed by Ashutosh Gowariker, 'Panipat' is produced by Sunita Gowariker and Rohit Shelatkar. It is scheduled to hit the theaters on December 6th and the film will be taking on Karthik Aryan, Bhumi Pednekar and Ananya Pandey's 'Pati Patni Aur Woh' on the box office which is set to release on the same day.
