Ahead of Critics' Choice Shorts and Series Awards ( CCSSA ) happening on 11th December, Prominent writer - director Raj & DK of ' Family Man' along with the 'Made in Heaven' fame Arjun Mathur opened up about the rise of the shorts and series universe on the Panel discussion.

Raj & DK said "Critics have a job to do, critics have a thankless job, they are hated for the judgment, but I feel they put in a lot. It's a very thankless job. We all are filmmakers at heart, critics mean a lot, feedback means a lot. Thinking and thought before appreciation means a lot. I like it when there is thought of liking something feels better that all comes from a critic. Critics' awards are the best awards, I am glad CCSSA is putting it for especially for shorts and series or the first time."

Elated Arjun Mathur said, `Freedom of experiment is the unique thing about the short films, because of lack of platform, and monetization there is an immense scope of an experiment in the short films.`

As the second season of 'Little Things' and 'Mirzapur' is also a part of the nominees for this year's awards, Dhruv Sehgal from 'Little Things' and Shweta Tripathi who gave us 'Mirzapur' was also a part of the Panel discussion.

The Family Man, Mirzapur, Delhi Crime, Sacred Games, etc are some of the names that have been nominated for this year's awards. Also in the short films section, there are multiple regional projects that have been nominated in Hindi, Kannada, Bengali, and Marathi. Some of the actors who have been nominated for their stellar performances are Naseeruddin Shah and Kabir Sajid.

In December 2018, the Film Critics Guild and Motion Content Group collaborated along with Vistas Media Capital to announce one of its kind Critics' Choice Short Film Awards which features a body comprising of India's top film critics.

The first edition of the awards was a major success amongst the masses and it is safe to say that this time around, we will see more quality content being presented by artists across the nation.
