"I met her a year ago. Something about her struck me, so I made a mental note to cast her in one of my productions.

When Mr Bachchan and I started discussing Nishabd, Jiah came to mind instantly. She's a natural.Apart from overcoming her fear of the camera, I didn't have to work on her at all.

I prefer to leave the character's interpretation to the actors. She's the catalyst in the film, so it was imperative that I cast a new face."
