Once the movie was released on 10th of January 2020, the actress received a lot of appreciation for making this kind of movie from the audience and critics alike.

Chhapaak is based on a real-life story of an acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal and the diva Deepika Padukone has taken all our hearts for the way she played this role. Chhapaak has been declared tax-free in the states of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh. The government of Madhya Pradesh has also announced a huge campaign against the illegal sale of acid. Adding to it, the Uttarakhand government has declared a monthly pension scheme for the acid-attack survivor. Various states are giving their own positive contribution after the release of the film and this is a win-win situation for the film.
