Gul Panag got the most pleasant swurprise when the cast and crew of Shemaroo's Manorama: 6 Feet Under, which is being directed by debutant director Navdeep, decided to spring her a surprise birthday party.

The only problem was that Gul was in her nightdress when they sprung the surprise on her!

Gul admits that she was pleasantly surprised when a party was organised in her honour on January 3, while shooting for the film in Rajasthan.

"We were shooting in Mandaava, which is about 200 km from Jaipur. It was the first day of the schedule and bitterly cold. I had flown in straight from Delhi for the shoot.

At work, nobody even gave me a clue that they knew about my birthday. In the night, when I was just about retiring to bed, my director Navdeep called me down to the production office to be friendly with the 4-year-old child who plays my son in the film.

Though I had become friendly with him earlier, they insisted that I come down. So I put on lots of warm clothes over my nightdress and trudged down to the office. Imagine my shock when everyone suddenly shouted ‘Surprise!!"

After that, Gul had the yummiest treat of her life. She says, "They made me cut the richest, spongiest, smoothest Black Forest cake I have ever had in my life.

Also, there were the most delicious traditional Rajasthani delicacies!
