Neetu Chandra has not exactly been free after Traffic Signal. She is currently busy, doing lots of social work
and helping the poor and the needy. Recently she has become the youth icon for the organization
representing UNICEF that has launched a campaign against AIDS and has been visiting a lot rallies in
remote areas designated to her by the organization.
"Recently there was a rally on AIDS in Chandrapur where I had gone and was surprised to find out that 23%
of AIDs victim in India are in Maharastra," informs Neetu.
"I do not believe in attending official meetings but like to talk to the victims themselves. It gives me a lot of
peace of mind. I consider it a boon that I am from the film fraternity and that makes my work easier. People
recognize me and thus it makes it easier for me to interact with people and also influence them," she
adds.
But doing lots of social work doesn't mean her career has taken a back seat. "I believe in some ways that I
have proved my capacity to do various roles first with Garam Masala and then with Traffic Signal. Now I am
ready to take up any role as long as it is good and challenging.
But my dream role would be like
the one played by Madhu Bala in Mughal-e-Azam because I am a classical dancer. I am also a good fighter
as I have learnt martial arts and as a kid have also won an award for representing India.
As of now I
am busy looking at scripts and decorating my new apartment which I have recently bought", she informs.
Social work as well as making strategies for her career, now we know why her plate is so very full! -
