Urmila Matondkar is back with Ram Gopal Varma after a twelve-month hiatus, during which time she lost Company to Manisha Koirala. After cold shouldering each other publicly, the actress-director duo was spotted at a suburban restaurant late one evening enjoying Chinese food. The smart operator that Urmi is, she has also made sure she stars in his next film, which is expected to be another hard look at the underworld.
Ramu, otherwise a thorough professional and ruthless when it comes to work, is said to have become so emotional over his lady love`s total indifference towards him that he requested Manoj Bajpai to call a truce between them. But wasn`t Bajpai himself on `cold `terms with the Hyderabadi director? "I`ll always be fond of Manoj — he is brilliant and like a younger brother to me," confirmed Ramu. For Urmi, he was less forthcoming. "I cast according to the characters." Urmila also has Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi`s Pinjar and Rajat Mukherjee`s Road to showcase her talent in. But an ecstatic Matondkar couldn`t hide her pleasure at the very thought of replacing Manya, who had almost bagged the role.
C`mon, Urmila, the role was yours right from the word go. If in between, it did travel first to Manisha and then to Antara Mali bags, the fault was entirely yours. And anyway, if Ramu`s all yours, aren`t all his films yours too?
