Nana Patekar has joined the actor-singer bandwagon. Nana sang an item number for Anees Bazmee's 'Welcome' Last evening. The actor crooned to composer Anand Raj Anand's music.

Anand says, "I approached Nana to sing a song in Welcome. As he's not a professional singer, I set a dialogue format to make it easier for him but he insisted on singing it to a proper tune. I was surprised at how quickly he picked it up. I am happy with the outcome. Now I am also planning to get Anil Kapoor to sing as well."

Anand says that Shankar Mahadevan has also sung for the same song. "I am glad that Shankar has been kind enough. It happens rarely that one music director sings for another one," he says.

Nana had earlier done a rap number in Yeshwant almost a decade ago. This is the first time that he will sing a conventional song.
