Many celebrities took notice of this and took to social media to come forward in support of PM Modi's request. Veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan posted a few lines penned by him as a caption to his post on social media with an image of the country in chains and locks. The 'Shahenshah' wrote, "I appeal kindly today, listen to the directions by the Head; these restrictions are life-giving, a pledge of 21 days will bury Coronavirus."
Later on, Khiladi Akshay Kumar too shared his agitation in an Instagram video as he prevailed upon people that there is a curfew for a reason and that reason is our very own safety. He said, "At the risk of sounding repetitive, sharing my thoughts...there is a lockdown for a reason. Please don't be selfish and venture out, you're putting others lives at risk."
The actors are talking sense as the only way to prevent the virus from rapidly spreading is social distancing as it spreads through contact. Our healthcare system does not have enough capacity to handle what will come if we do not abide by the curfew. The hospitals in Italy are collapsing for the very same reason. Amitabh Bachchan participated whole-heartedly in the Janata curfew on March 22nd as well. He has been urging his fans through social media to follow the directions given by the government and medical authorities. The COVID-19 task force is doing all they can do and the least that we need to do is stay indoors to save the world.
