Film star and MP Govinda, who has been criticised by people in his own constituency for playing truant by not turning up during the last Mumbai floods, was seen in a different role recently. He attracted thousands of people during the first campaign meeting of the Congress party held at Sankhali in Goa on Sunday.

This marked the beginning of the party's poll campaign in a big way, ahead of the assembly elections scheduled for May.

Besides Govinda, AICC general secretary Margaret Alva, AICC member Alka Lamba, chief minister Pratapsingh Rane and others were present.
