For the first time, catch Ankur and Ashu LIVE across ZEE5's social media platforms for the REJCTX2 music launch on Sunday, 10th May

'REJCTX2' is a teen musical thriller and a coming of age story that revolves around the lives of seven Indian students studying in The Jefferson World School. Premiering on 14th May, these privileged kids are thrust into the exclusive world of the rich, right where they belong. But eventually, they find themselves at the disposal of their own insecurities. The bunch of misfits and rebels make a musical squad and choose music as the form of expression for that restlessness. The music is composed by famous singer-songwriter Ankur Tewari and music composer-producer, Ashu Phatak. The lyrics and the music is for the youth and by the youth. Ankur Tewari has carved a niche for himself in Bollywood as a Hindi singer-songwriter who has composed some great tunes. He is flying the Indie flag high and throwing the spotlight on Indie- Pop music- be it, in Bollywood or OTT. Additionally, composer-producer Ashutosh Phatak who has composed music for over 3000 television commercials and soundtracks for over 10 feature films has joined hands with Ankur in a collaborative effort. Together, they have composed the songs for ZEE5's most awaited original teen musical thriller, 'REJCTX2' starring Esha Gupta, Sumeet Vyas, and produced-directed by Goldie Behl.

`The idea was to compose catchy songs for REJCTX2, that are easily hummable and sung while retaining a feel that they are made in dorm rooms and not a professional hi-tech studio. The music resonates with the 8 characters of the kids in the show. We wanted the songs to be an extension to the characters they play in the show. The music and the lyrics had to be for the young and by the young. So we decided to collaborate with students from a music school, to write sketches of melodies and words. We then ended up polishing the rough edges retaining the raw ideas that these students brought forward. It was a great opportunity to be associated with an Indian Teen musical thriller series produced and directed by Goldie Behl and the video streaming platform like ZEE5. `It's been a fun collaborative process creating these songs not only with Ankur but also with the many True School Students that were involved in the project. We tried to capture the sensibility of the younger generation by keeping the songs youthful, urban, and indie. Working with Goldie is a lot of fun. In 'REJCTX2', the kids represent the misfits, who go on to create a new identity with their music band by the same name. The makers of the show released the teaser of season 2 recently, which gives us a glimpse of the 'privileged rich kids of the Jefferson World School' from Esha's viewpoint.



Esha Gupta will be seen as officer Rene, Ahmed Masi Walia as Aarav Sharma, Anisha Victor as Kiara Tiwari, Ayush Khurana as Mandy, Prabhneet Singh as Harry, Ridhi Khakhar as Parnomitra Rai, Saadhika Syal as Sehmat Ali, Pooja Shetty as Misha Patel, Tanvi Shinde as Yesha, Sumeet Vyas as the Vice President.

REJCTX2 is produced and directed by Goldie Behl and will be streaming exclusively from 14th May on ZEE5.
