This matter has now taken a shocking new turn as a lady journalist named Deepika Narayan Bhardwaj has posted a video on her facebook handle where she is interviewing Haris, the boy who informed the girls whose pictures were posted and commented on in the Bois Locker Room. There are some serious claims made in the video she has shared on her facebook account.
In her post, she wrote "My interview with Haris who was one of the first to look at #BoysLockerRoom original chats & took the initiative to inform girls whose images were shared & commented upon . I speak to him about the controversy, nature of images shared on the private chat, discussion & aftermaths. Some key take aways :
- All the pictures shared on Locker Room were public images posted by the girls on Instagram. There were no nudes distributed or pictures morphed by the boys as being shared widely in media. These were revealing pictures posted on social media which boys shared in the group & made cheap vulgar comments & used sexually explicit language.
- The snapchat screenshot in which r@pe was discussed was not from Locker room chats. It was an old screenshot (authenticity of which isn't known) that one of girls used to claim she was getting rape threats. However even though it was later clarified the group, it got widely circulated as a chat done by boys from the locker room.
- There was no r@pe discussed or mentioned in the first locker room chats.
- Several boys who are now being called rapists or those planning gangrape were not at all active on the group. They were added randomly & probably didn't even know they were a part.
- Girls Locker Room chats (group existed with a different name) were authentic, had almost same language used by girls while sharing - again public images of boys - commenting on their body parts & making sexually explicit comments.
Last but not the least - Most people involved in this are Minors. Please exercise rationality before outrage. The boys involved in this should be punished as per severity of the offence & not severity of the outrage because of wrong facts. It's Unfair.
Also - please introspect if these school going kids deserve so much of our hate when you have such private chats groups all around you and if you handed anyone over to police immediately or reasoned with them on how it is absolutely unacceptable behavior."
The interview can be found on her facebook post on her account by the name 'Deepika Narayan Bhardwaj'.
So far more than 20 members of the group have been questioned by the Delhi Police in the matter and two have been arrested for objectifying and making vulgar comments on their female classmates. The case jas now reached the Delhi High Court as it involves school boys from some high profile families and to stop them from using their influence to tamper the case a PIL has now been filed to transfer the case to CBI or an SIT.
