Padma Lakshmi gave hints of her impending break up with Salman Rushdie a few days back in an interview
where she badmouthed her husband.
In the remarks, which were not released till now, pagesix.com quoted Lakshmi as saying: "I've started my
own production company, and I've optioned a short novel, 'Domestic Arrangements,' by Norma Klein about a
14-year-old girl growing up in New York facing her own sexual awakening while her parents are going
through a rough divorce...
It's all still in the formative stage, but one thing is sure - I know Salman won't help me in the least in the
screenplay department because he'll make me pay him for his contribution, and no matter how big a budget
I can come up with, there will still be no way that I can afford him. He's very frustrating in that way."
