Celina Jaitley is turning an author! No, before you start ruing the possibility that the sexy siren is about to disappear from the scene to live a life of a recluse, fear not! The
star is only putting her free time to good use by penning down a book based on the memoirs of her late grandfather!
Celina sounds gung-ho as she talks about this venture of hers. "I have grown up listening to heroic tales from my maternal grandfather Col. Eric Francis, who belonged to the
12 Rajputana Rifles regiment that fought in Burma during the World War II.
Even as a child I used to be extremely fascinated by his accounts and had always
wanted to pen them down just as my granddad did when he wrote his daily diary.
But somehow, time constraints always kept me away form doing so. But one
day, some time back I decided that we have forgotten the sacrifices of our war heroes, which are enabling us to lead such great lives today. Hence, I decided to pull up my
socks and get to work immediately.
I have granddad's ten diaries to source stuff from, apart from which, I have been trying to source out stuff from relatives and
have been talking to some of his colleagues who are still around.
The book is not to glorify my grandfather's heroism, which was absolutely fascinating, but to help
revive the memory of those brave soldiers who laid down their lives for us. We have unfortunately forgotten their sacrifice. This book will endeavor to do so" remarks Celina
with a sigh. - Reshma S Kulkarni (SAMPURN)
