There was buzz around that Manmohan Desai's blockbuster hit ‘Amar Akbar Anthony' has caught the fancy
of two film makers, Ketan Desai and David Dhavan.
Where David was keen either making a sequel or a remake of the movie, Manmohan's son Ketan was keen
on making a sequel. According to Karan it is difficult to match the quality of the classic film but he is
thinking about it seriously.
To match up to the cast of the original classic, Amitabh Bachchan, Rishi Kapoor and Vinod Khanna, Ketan
has intentions of casting Abhishek Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor and Akshay Khanna. David was to direct the
movie.
But now one gets to hear that on Dhavan's request, Desai has dropped the idea. The reason cited was that
Dhavan had already committed to some other production house to remake the movie with Salman, Sohail
and Arbaaz Khan in lead roles.
‘Amar Akbar Anthony' is the movie which celebrated silver jubilee across 9 cinemas in Mumbai in 1977, a
record unparalleled even today.
So all that Desai is doing now is reviving his father Manmohan Desai's banner and directing the movie
himself. And it seems he has no grudges against David too. All for the sake of friendship! - (SAMPURN)
