One remark from beer-and-liquor tycoon Vijay Mallya on the Koffee with Karan Show has stirred up the hornet's nest in Bollywood. When Karan asked the business baron for his reaction to the word 'homosexuality', he said 'Ugh'!

The response has evoked reactions amidst celebrities in the film and fashion industry of India.

First to react to Mallya's contemptuous exclamation was designer Wendell Rodricks who is an out-of-the-closet homosexual and lives with his partner Frenchman Jerome (whom he married in a public ceremony some years ago) in Goa.

"He has not been diplomatic," said the designer, "I know many of his friends are gay including me and he should respect us."

Other reactions included surprise at Karan Johar's failure to himself react to the response!

"He should be the last person to take Mallya's contempt quietly," said other homosexual men.

Of course, the doyen of homosexuals in Bollywood is Bobby Darling, who said Mallya should refrain from hurting the feelings of people who are 'born that way'!
