The Punjabi Wing of Indian Social Club will celebrate the spring festival of Baisakhi this year with song and dance, as it should be. It will host renowned Bollywood playback singers and their troupes in a concert at City Amphitheatre, Oman, on April 27 from 8 pm.

Jaspinder Narula and Micky Narula, Bollywood and Punjabi artistes of international repute will be accompanied by renowned female and male dancers from India. Jaspinder Narula ruled the roost as playback singer in Bollywood before Sunidhi Chauhan edged her out.

Jaspinder has won the Filmfare and other awards for the famous 'Pyar to hona hi tha' number, but has many more superhit numbers like 'Ankhiyon se goli maare'.

They are generally credited for the current popularity for Punjabi and Hindi music in the Indian pop music scenario. They are featured regularly on Zee TV, ETC Punjabi, MTV, B4U, MH1 and Balle Balle TV among others.

Baisakhi is spring time, and a time when the people of North India exuberantly celebrate the bounty of nature with lots of gaiety and fun, and that's where the Bhangra is showcased to the world. ISC–Punjabi Wing celebrates Baisakhi with a lot of pomp and show every year ensuring that it represents their heritage and tradition. They have always drawn a huge crowd, and hope to do the same this year, too.

Karanjeet Singh Matharoo, Punjabi Wing convener, has been quoted by an Oman daily thus: "Baisakhi is a very important event in the calendar of the events of our wing. After the great success of 'Muscat Alive 2006', we bring 'Baisakhi Mela 2007' to Oman.

This is the first time that the audience of Oman will be enthralled by the melodious voice of Jaspinder Narula and we will ensure that this event turns out among the best of its kind in Oman. Jaspinder has been awarded the title 'Nightingale of Punjab'." - (SAMPURN)
