Rani Mukherjee has the reputation of being a bindaas girl. But nothing could have prepared Mani Rathnam`s assistant for the actress` bohemian views on marriage. The unsuspecting guy has signed Rani and Vivek Oberoi for his debut film, Saathiya. It was with great trepidation that he narrated the theme of his film to Rani, who is required to play a young girl who has a live in relationship.
He thought a conventional heroine would have problems with such a bold subject. But Rani had other ideas. "That `s a very healthy attitude to have," Rani opined. "I would love to have a live-in friend and then decide if the guy is worth marrying." The director was left speechless. As word spread that Rani was the most bohemian among the Mukherjees and that even Kajol, considered bindaas, wasn`t a patch on her, industry was abuzz with stories of an Englishman in this Bengali`s life. A phirang in a traditional Bengali household?
Wouldn`t it shock your conservative parents, Rani? And that too, if you practice what you preach, would you consider moving in with him withhout the sacred vows of matrimony?
