Her dream co-star is Shah Rukh Khan, her dream role is Smita Patil's in "Chakra" and she loves Indian costumes.
Meet small screen's girl-next-door Amrapalli Gupta who is going for an image makeover in the "Chatni Mix" music video where she shakes a leg to the tune of "Kaise Bani
Kaise Bani".
"I did this album a while ago but because of some problems it didn't get released. But now it is going to be out and I'm really excited about it. People will see a different side
of me," said Amrapalli who currently plays the youngest daughter-in-law in "Teen Bahuraaniya" on Zee TV.
The show went on air recently and is produced by versatile Bollywood actor Paresh Rawal.
"I play the role of Bindi, a fun loving and bindaas bahu. She's rebellious, knows her own mind and refuses to bow down to narrow mindedness. She is also very filmy and
happy-go-lucky in a way."
Amrapalli says she loves her make up and costume in the series.
"I love her the look. I like wearing Indian stuff - bindis, bangles and etc. It is so much fun."
A trained Kathak dancer, Amrapalli did a lot of theatre before entering television.
"I'm originally from Lucknow and I used to do a lot of theatre there. Someone suggested I should try my luck in television, so I came to Mumbai. I dropped my portfolio and
pictures in production houses and started getting calls. Now, here I am!"
Her first show was "Khushiyaan" on DD1.
"I played the lead role of Khushi. Then followed 'Reth' for Zee TV where I played Arushi, a very positive character. Then came 'Pyaar Ke Do Naam, Ek Radha Ek Shyam' for
Star Plus. I played the lead role of Radha. After that I was in 'Kabhie Toh Nazar Milao for UTV and now finally 'Teen Bahuraaniyan' for ZEE TV.
Which is her favourite production house?
Amrapalli says: "Well, the one for 'Teen Bahuraaniyan' - Paresh Rawal Productions - is a very good unit, I love working for them. And of course I would love to work with
Balaji in the near future."
What does she think about the present television scenario?
"It's very competitive now, but has a lot of opportunities for actors. There are many different genres to experiment with and if you are a good actor, you will always get work,"
said the young actress who loves writing poetry and cooking as well.
