The iconic artist of India, Sampooran Singh Kalra, professionally known as Gulzar celebrates his 86th birthday today. There are 23 languages spoken in India and 24th is Gulzar. Gulzar is not only a word but it's an emotion that every generation feels. Gulzar who started his journey with the song 'Mera Gora Rang Lei Li' ( Bandani, 1963) today has become a living legend with his brilliance. 

The evergreen artist is a Padma Bhushan Awardee and has also been honored with the Dada Saheb Phalke Award. Gulzar is also a Sahitya Akademi Awardee and is also the recipient of Grammy Award. The relevancy of Gulzar's writing appeals to every generation as he once said, `feeling the pulse of the gully-mohalla, the nation, the globe that I live in. Being a master of Urdu doesn't interest me, being part of the global society does, breathing hope into that society matters to me`.
