Charity and philanthropy is something that is very close to his heart. During the COVID lockdown, he recently performed a few live shows to raise funds for the underprivileged in India and one of his shows gathered around 8.7K views and raised around $6K in one evening. He has two live shows lined up on August.
Having done covers and Bollywood songs for the longest time he had always wanted to record an original song and it's a dream come true for him. 'Karwaan' is on all platforms like YouTube, AppleMusic, Spotify, PrimeMusic, JioSaavn and Gaana which has fetched him a tremendously positive response from listeners. He plans to keep releasing covers to keep the audience engaged and entertained.
Sid Philar has lived in multiple cities in India in his growing years. His parents were avid Bollywood music fans and listened to the radio every single day, which laid the foundation for his passion for music. He briefly learnt Hindustani music as a kid, but because of the constant moving, there was a break in the continuity. He also learnt the percussion instrument Tabla.
As a student under Dr Rose Muralikrishnan, he travelled to New York to perform at the reputed Carnegie Hall in NYC as an ensemble and followed it with a performance at the world-famous Opera House in Sydney. By the end of 2019, he performed around 200 live Bollywood shows in California and all around the US.
