However, there are still a few who are still awaiting a hug from the glamour world since years. An ex-Miss India finalist and popular model is yet to make her mark in Bollywood and declares it is the big boss sitting in the sky who is going to decide her fate.
She was even appreciated by Bollywood's so called enthusiast and painter M. F. Hussain who even cast her in his movie 'Meenakshi', which didn't help the dusky actress as well.
However, Sandhya is optimistic of her becoming successful one day. She says, 'I believe it all depends on your talent but I would also say the big boss is sitting right up your head who watches every move. That is why I am very religious and completely believe in God.'
Sandhya also feels being at the right place at the right time makes a difference. After making her debut in a lesser heard movie 'Bus Yun Hi' she attracted none other than M. F. Hussain, the famous painter who was looking for a face after his first directorial debut 'Gajgamini' which starred Madhuri Dixit.
Though it was a super flop, Hussain went ahead with his next film 'Meenakshi' with Sandhya Shetty in the lead role.
Nevertheless, she didn't get much of the media attention having Hussain as her director. But she feels, 'I wan't to market myself with my talent and of course with the help of media because you all are the strongest medium for us.'
She is also proud of the fact that being a south Indian she never tried her hands in South Indian movies which is considered very easy for Bollywood's rejected. On the contrary she went to do Bengali films; one of them was 'Kaal'. Sandhya is of opinion that a time will surely come when she will be noticed by her performance which will surely help her getting the big break she has been waiting for years.
Better late then never, the South Indian bombshell is once again in the limelight with her upcoming Hinglish film 'Kabhi Socha Bhi Na Tha' directed by a new comer Kallol Sen who has long corporate experience with companies like ABCL (promoted by Amitabh Bachchan) and Nimbus.
Sandhya plays a glamorous model in the film and says, 'The script really excited me and I know people will come to watch the film. It's a modern film, a bold film which talks about sex loud and clear.'
Hats off to your confidence Ms. Shetty, but we doubt if audience still prefer to hear sex loud and clear. - (SAMPURN)
