More popular as Sujal of 'Kahiin Toh Hoga', Rajeev Khandelwal is happy now with the awards for the serial Left Right Left though it does not have a huge reach. We spoke to him about his comeback to the serial after the World Cup break and his other career moves.

Q: 'LRL' will be back after a break, so is there the same excitement as was there during the launch of the serial?
A: No, I'm not excited, but rather feel safe because it is not the beginning. It is a continuation.

Q: The serial had left at a very exciting point, so what is going to happen next?
A: See I'm not supposed to reveal what is going to happen next but all I can say is that the unexpected is going to happen.

The point at which the serial left, people will think that it was supposed to happen but it is not going to be so. From now, in each episode there is going to be a diversion. The serial will be moving at breakneck speed and people are going to enjoy it.

Q: How has been the response to the serial so far?
A: See I have received good response. People have started calling me Captain Rajveer. It is a good transition from being called Sujal. It goes on to show that people are accepting me in all my characters.

As for the serial, though it is on a channel (SAB TV) which does not have a huge reach but it has managed to create a niche market for itself and is doing well.

Q: Do you expect the same after the break?
A: The world is living on hope and so am I. I cannot say what is going to happen in the next few months, but I think that it will do well. I have received an award for this serial which I had not for the other serials in bigger channels. So I'm happy and hopeful.

Q: Why according to you is 'LRL' doing so well despite the fact that it has a separate concept?
A: See it is a time for change and 'LRL' is a serial which has brought about a change in television. It has set a trend for itself rather than following the trend and I'm happy that I'm with the trendsetters and not the followers.

Q: Are there any changes slated in your character?
A: Actually my character is going to end but in a logical way. The character for Rajveer Singh Shekhawat when written was written as it is now and had to come to an end as per the requirements.

Q: Were you in contact with your co-stars during the break?
A: Yes I was in contact with my co-stars during the break though we are not the best of friends and do not meet after pack-up. But we all share a warm relationship. Though they all went out on a vacation when I received an award, I had received a lot of SMSes from them.

Q: How has been the reunion like?
A: The reunion was fantastic and we all are pumped up for work. See during such breaks one interacts with the people and knows about their success. So I guess all of them are raring to go. But I think one should also ask the writers because they are the ones who are penning down episode after episode.

They should also be freshened up so that they can write better. Actually we just put in our performances and it is the writers who have done the main job till now.

Q: What is your take on the newcomers in the serial? Are they doing well?
A: I think I'm the worst actor in the serial. I have miles to go now, so I cannot comment on any one else's performance. But I think if they had not done a good job, the serial would not have done well.

Q: Why don't we see more of you on television?
A: I like exclusivity. I have never done more than one serial at a time. I do not believe in doing several serials at one time. Rather I would devote all to one. Well, also I do not wish to keep busy. I like to have time for myself, so I shoot for twenty-two days a month and for the rest of the days I spend my time doing things that I want to do.

Q: What kind of roles do you look forward to?
A: See I like to do roles which are unusual. I do not have a notion in mind that I would like to do comedy or something else. I keep myself open when I hear roles and if it strikes me I take it up. I think it is important for an actor to like a role before he presents it to the people.

Q: Are you looking ahead to a career in films?
A: Yes, I am looking for a career in films but I live in reality. I would be lying if I told you that I do not want to do films. I certainly want to see my close-up on the big screen but I'm not chasing it like madness.

Q: Have you received any offers yet?
A: Yes, I have been hearing a few scripts every week but nothing as of now has struck me. So till now nothing has happened but I will do films when I get a good role. - Mili S.
