This 10-minute short film called Rice Plate will be Rohit Roy's directorial debut on TV.
For Rohit it's a dream come true and since Naseer and Shabana agreed to act in his film I he has been extatic enough to be deprived of sleep.
Roy says, "Both Naseersaab and Shabanaji are great actors and are working so enthusiastically on their roles.Naseersaab plays a Muslim man and has been growing a beard for the part, while Shabanaji plays a Tamilian woman, so she too has been attending a workshop to learn Tamil and get the diction right.
Shabana Azmi, is currently busy with her work as the chairperson of the Nivara Haq project dealing with the rehabilitation of slum dwellers.
Shabana has been known to work on her roles like for Morning Raga, she had to learn Carnatic music, Shabana says, " The nice part about Rice Plate is that it deals with prejudice, which is an extremely important topic in today's world. Everyone is becoming increasingly intolerant these days. Of course, I am also very excited to be working with Naseer again."
The story is an emotional drama and deals with the Hindu-Muslim divide.
