Rohit Shetty's cop drama 'Sooryavanshi' is one of the most anticipated films of the year and along with the audience, filmmakers are also waiting for the film to release in the cinema halls. In the film, Akshay Kumar is in the titular role while Katrina Kaif plays his love interest. Apart from them, Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh, have special appearances in the movie. Earlier it was stated that the film will release on Diwali but even despite the central government's permission to open the theatres from October 15th onwards, makers are still thinking to exceed the release date as cinema halls are opening with 50% occupancy.

As the film's close source has revealed to a leading entertainment portal, `The makers feel it will be an ideal time to release the film, given its theme of patriotism and anti-terrorism. While the current crisis will hopefully be under control by then, the Katrina Kaif-starrer will additionally enjoy the benefit of being the first big release of 2021. The team is currently working out the logistics."

Talking about why the film is not releasing on Diwali, Mr. Sarkar said, "Earlier we had made announcements for the release of Sooryavanshi on Diwali and '83 on Christmas. Now releasing a film on Diwali is not practical as some states still haven't announced opening up theatres and you can't release Sooryavanshi with less than one month promotion."

According to the media reports, Kapil Dev biopic '83' is all set to hit the cinema hall on Christmas. Both 'Sooryavanshi' and '83', produced by Reliance Entertainment were initially set for release on March 24th and April 10th respectively but due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the films slated for the future release. Rumors were also floating in the tinsel town that the films are being considered for the OTT release. But Reliance quickly squashed such rumors and revealed that the audience can only watch these big-budget films in theaters only.
